Description
Toxic Tort Defense Attorney | Remote | $150,000 to $200,000
Asbestos files are mostly an argument about invoices from the seventies. Silica files are the same argument with newer paper, and a lot of that paper is still sitting in somebody's warehouse waiting for you to find it.
A countertop slab can go through a quarry, a shipper, an importer, a distributor, a fabrication shop and an installer before it ends up in a kitchen, and each of them kept their own kind of records, or didn't. Working out which slab, from where, cut by whom and with what dust controls is most of this job. The San Francisco team has a lot of these cases on right now and needs someone in the middle of them.
The work:
- Product identification from purchase orders, import records and the shop's own invoices
- Depositions of fabricators, shop owners and distributor reps, and defending your own client's people
- Sitting down with industrial hygienists and pulmonologists on exposure and diagnosis
- Discovery fights and summary judgment, then trial prep on the cases that keep going
What I like about this one is the one on one mentoring. On a big toxic tort docket it's easy to turn into a name on a deposition calendar, and here a partner sits down with you and goes through the file.
The pay is $150,000 to $200,000. The office is remote or hybrid, and right now they're more relaxed than most about fully remote for the right person. The California offices lean on each other a lot, which is handy when a slab turns out to have come in through Southern California.
You'd need:
- A couple of years of defense litigation, ideally asbestos, toxic tort or product liability, plus the California Bar
- A record of staying in your jobs a good while
If you've ever followed a box of paperwork further back than anyone asked you to, we'll get on fine. Call 646 540 9647 or pick a time at https://calendly.com/arranjaiswal/15min.
