Job Summary
David's Mai Lai wah is one of Philadelphia's oldest Chinese restaurants, and has recently been reopened for dine in! We are looking for an enthusiastic Busser/food runner that would be the welcoming face of our restaurant! We currently have late night shifts open from 9:30 PM - 3 AM on Fridays and Saturdays
Responsibilities
- Clear and reset tables swiftly to maintain a clean and inviting dining space.
- Assist servers by delivering food orders from the kitchen to guest tables and host stand accurately and promptly.
- Assist in the final packaging of take out orders (loading forks, spoons, napkins, etc)
- Support food safety standards by handling dishes and utensils with proper manual handling techniques.
- Perform regular cleaning duties in the dining area, including sweeping, wiping down surfaces, and sanitizing tables.
- Assist with bussing duties such as removing used dishes, glassware, and silverware while ensuring safe lifting practices during heavy lifting tasks.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and front-of-house team to coordinate timely food running and guest service needs.
- Maintain a positive attitude while providing in-person customer service, ensuring guests have an enjoyable dining experience.
Experience
- Ability to speak Chinese is a major plus
- Previous food service or restaurant experience is preferred but not required; we value enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.
- Familiarity with food handling procedures, food safety standards, and basic kitchen operations is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills are essential for coordinating with team members and engaging with guests effectively.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting, manual handling, and standing for extended periods is necessary to succeed in this role.
- Prior hospitality or guest services experience will help you excel in delivering exceptional guest experiences in a fast-paced environment.
