Description
About Cafe Spice
Cafe Spice is a family-owned food manufacturer based in New York's Hudson Valley, with production operations in Beacon, NY. We take food safety, quality, and our people seriously, and we invest in training every team member from day one.
The role
We're looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Warehouse Clerk to help keep our production lines moving. You'll receive, store, and issue raw and packaging materials accurately, safely, and on time, so production is never waiting on material. You'll check in deliveries, keep stock organized and rotated, deliver materials to production, and record every movement in SYSPRO.
What you'll do
Receiving
- Check in deliveries by matching the purchase order, packing list, and bill of lading against the shipment.
- Inspect incoming material for damage, temperature, lot and date codes, and labeling, and hold or reject anything that doesn't meet requirements.
- Document shortages, overages, and damages, and flag delays or discrepancies to the Warehouse Manager and Purchasing.
- Unload trucks safely, label material, and put it away in the right location.
- Enter every receipt into SYSPRO the same day.
- Organize and route receiving paperwork: invoices to Accounting, packing slips and bills of lading to Purchasing, and certificates of analysis to FSQA.
- Help receive maintenance parts, equipment, and other deliveries, and notify the requesting department.
Storage and inventory
- Store material in assigned locations using FIFO/FEFO rotation and allergen, hold, and quarantine segregation.
- Perform cycle counts and physical inventories, and report variances.
- Keep location labels, lot information, and stock records accurate.
- Let the Warehouse Manager know when packaging or supplies run low.
Supplying production
- Pick and stage raw materials and packaging according to the production schedule.
- Deliver material from coolers and dry storage to production and other departments.
- Verify item, quantity, and lot before release, and record every issue and transfer in SYSPRO as it happens.
- Return unused material to storage and record it correctly.
Safety, quality, and housekeeping
- Follow GMP, allergen, sanitation, and safety procedures, and wear required PPE.
- Operate forklifts and pallet jacks once trained and certified.
- Keep receiving, storage, and staging areas clean, organized, and hazard-free.
- Report equipment, safety, and quality issues right away.
What you bring
- At least 1 year of experience in a warehouse or food manufacturing setting, or equivalent experience.
- Familiarity with receiving documents such as purchase orders, packing lists, and bills of lading.
- Basic math skills, comfort with computers, and the ability to learn SYSPRO and barcode or RF scanners.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow written procedures with minimal supervision.
- Ability to lift or move up to 50 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Reliable attendance and flexibility to work scheduled shifts, overtime, and occasional weekends.
Nice to have: receiving, shipping, or inventory experience, and forklift experience. No forklift certification? No problem. We'll train and certify you.
Working environment
This role is on the floor of a food manufacturing facility, in both dry storage and refrigerated areas (40–50°F). Expect long periods of standing and walking, frequent pushing, pulling, stooping, and bending, and regular lifting. We provide all required PPE.
